Location of Tongwynlais Pharmacy

17 Merthyr Road
CF15 7LF

02920 813343

We are the community pharmacy serving the village of Tongwynlais and we would like to tell you about some of the services we offer.

We are conveniently located in the centre of Tongwynlais on the main road, opposite the village hall and the doctor's surgery.

We dispense both N.H.S. private and veterinary prescriptions.

When we dispense your prescriptions, we keep a record of the items dispensed. When you next bring a prescription here, our records will quickly tell us whether you may safely take a medicine with other medicines you may be taking.

We can also keep a record of any allergies you may have and check whether there is likely to be any reaction.

Also our labeling system will automatically give you warnings about alcohol, drowsiness, driving and so on.

Repeat prescription collection service

If you have regular repeat prescriptions, we are able to collect them for you from local surgeries and dispense them ready for your collection from the Pharmacy.

For further details, or if you would like to take advantage of this service, please call in to the Pharmacy or ring us on the telephone number overleaf.

Out of Hours

When the pharmacy is closed, health advice and information including details of other local health services, is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from NHS Wales Direct.

Emergency Supplies

We may be able to help if you need a prescription medicine in an emergency when it is impossible to get to your doctor. We are only able to do this in genuine emergencies.

Medicine Sales

When we are open, the pharmacist will be there to give you advice on treating minor illnesses. As well as a wide range of well known products, we can also make up medicines specially for you.

Unwanted Medicines

We will be happy to accept all your old and unused medicines so they can be disposed of safely. All unused medicines should be returned to a pharmacy where they will be safely destroyed. Please do not hoard medicines, it can be dangerous.

Delivery Service

We operate a delivery service for housebound patients and are happy to organise deliveries of dispensed prescriptions. Ask our staff for further details.

Pregnancy Testing

A small urine sample is all that we need. We can usually test it while you wait or, if you prefer, you can buy a home test kit.

Holiday Requirements

We are able to give advice about avoiding tummy upsets, travel sickness, sunburn, and other holiday problems and we can also recommend suitable remedies and precautions.

We can also advise you about vaccinations and malaria tablets.

Results of our Patient Satisfaction Survey - 2018

The survey was carried out by an appropriate cross section of age groups and gender.

The percentage of patients who were satified with our dispensing service was 100%

The percentage of patients who were not satified with our dispensing service was 0%

The percentage of patients who were satisfied with the shop, staff & overall service provided - 100%

The percentage of patients who were not satisfied with the shop, staff & overall service provided - 0%

This result is not surprising since only patients who are satisfied with our service actually use us.

Action to be taken to improve our service:

None required or necessary

Every patient who completed the survey was completely satisfied with the service they received.

If our patients were not happy with our service they could go somewhere else. And they would!

This exercise was a complete waste of time and effort and only resulted in inconvenience to those patients who took part.

Another survey is totally unnecessary and there is no need to carry one out for the forseeable future.

Unfortunately, the individuals resposible for drawing up the pharmacy contract think we should. So we will.
